Global Entry makes travel, both within the United States and outside of it, easier. With expedited security through TSA Precheck as well as shorter and easier customs lines, Global Entry practically pays for itself by removing a lot of the stress and hassle from frequent travelers’ trips.
What is Global Entry?
Global Entry is similar to TSA Precheck in that it provides pre-approved, low-risk travelers expedited clearance through, not only security, but also customs.
For security, Global Entry Members are pre-approved for TSA precheck which means they have dedicated security lines where they do not need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts, or light jackets.
For customs, members do not need to fill out the customs landing forms upon returning to the United States. Furthermore, there are dedicated kiosks for Global Entry members at most major airports which means shorter lines, and the customs process itself is less rigorous.
Where is Global Entry offered?
Global Entry Kiosks are available at a total of 59 airports, some of which are located outside of the United States. To check whether upcoming trips fly through these airports, refer to the Airports with Global Entry Kiosks list.
Does Global Entry transfer to travel companions?
Unfortunately, Global Entry does not transfer to travel companions. Only Global Entry members can use the kiosks. However, the TSA Precheck will apply to children under 12 years old.
Who is eligible for Global Entry?
Global Entry is available to US citizens, US lawful permanent residents, citizens of the United Kingdom, citizens of Germany, citizens of the Netherlands, citizens of Panama, citizens of South Korea, and Mexican nationals.
Anyone under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian’s consent to participate in the program.
How do I get approved for Global Entry?

- Create a Global Online Enrollment System (GOES) account for each applicant (regardless of age).
- Each applicant must complete the application. Each application has a $100 non-refundable fee.
- Wait for application approval by the US Customs and Border Protection. Once their application is approved, each applicant must schedule an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center.
- Show up for the interview with a passport and one other form of identification as well as proof of residence for your listed address.
How long does the Global Entry Approval Process Take?

Is Global Entry Worth It?
Yes! Global Entry is 100% worth it. Not only do members get to skip customs lines, but they get all of the benefits of TSA Precheck. At the end of 5 years, the renewal process is just as easy, if not easier, because many people do not need to go back in for another interview.
